Destinations: Old Bethpage Long Island
When was the last time you did something for the first time? That is the question me and my team of 4 were asked at the start line of the Long Island Tough Mudder. For all of is this time around was not our first time doing a Tough Mudder but there were still so many firsts to conquer on the 10 mile course.
Last year it took me two tries to get up Everest, this half pipe that you ave to run and jump into the hands of a mix of teammates and strangers. However, this year I did it in one try and it was awesome.
Another first for me was being able to get all the way across Funk Monkey. Its basically a bunch of monkey bars that go up on a inclines and later turn into a single pole of death that you have to wiggle yourself across. Getting all the way across and not falling to water was such an amazing feeling!
One of the biggest firsts of the event however, was not what I did, but what my teammate did. There is an event called the warrior carry where you need to carry a teammate on your back for 50 yards and then switch. Last year she had her boyfriend carry her all the way, never switching. But this year she carried me and it was awesome. She was so happy. And that is what that black and white picture of us displays. That photo shows her achieving something for the first time and loving it. And she never gave up.
So ask yourself, when was the last time you did something for the first time? You never know what you will be able to achieve!
A Tough Mudder is an amazing way to challenge yourself, bond with friends and force yourself to get in shape. Sign up for one today!
